Tooth-Colored Fillings vs. Amalgam Fillings
For well over 100 years, dentists used silver amalgam fillings, which are about 50% mercury, to treat decay. In recent years, however, there’s been much debate over the safety of amalgam fillings. It hasn’t been scientifically proven that amalgam fillings are harmful, but our Naples dental office has chosen to use tooth-colored fillings instead. Not only do tooth-colored fillings look more natural, they provide teeth with better insulation from hot and cold, and they can be repaired more easily.
